This book was inspired by the writings of the legendary espionage writer David John Moor Cornwell (1931-2020) who lived for 89 years and was better known by his pen name of John le Carre' and he will put pen to paper no more. Le Carre' means 'the square' which is fitting for him, being bordered by four equal sides enclosing MI5, MI6 and Special Branch within the elitist educational and class system of Britain which includes Eton school, Oxford and Cambridge universities. He had first-hand knowledge of spying having worked for MI6.
Even though this story is inspired by le Carre' it in no way tries to emulate him for he was the ultimate character builder, describer and assassinator of people.
For the younger reader a double agent is a person employed by a government to discover information about enemy countries, but who is really working for one of these enemy countries – if you like two spies in one – the perfect spy!
